7 BEST STREETWEAR STORES IN SYDNEY
7 stores in Sydney where you’ll find your favourite streetwear brands
It’s Friday afternoon, and like a few thousands other Sydney-siders, I’ve got a beer in hand and i’m feeling hot-damn ready for the weekend.
Don’t know about you, but being the start of Autumn, it feels like a pretty good excuse to update my wardrobe. Fresh kicks and steezy tees, come at me.
But, I wouldn’t dream of sliding into the weekend without the freshest of finds. And, digging out the perfect combo of well-known streetwear brands and elusive underground treasures takes some know-how in Sydney.
Here’s our pick of stores where you can fill your streetwear boots.
Subtype is a real big daddy of cool. The items you’ll find in its store are the sort of thing you might expect in some of Paris’ streets. Brands they stock include Nike and Adidas, but not what you’d expect on the high street. Subtype only caters to the very coolest end of the brands. You’ll also find clothing from Paradoxe Paris or M+RC on Subtype’s racks. Or Subtype Curated, which is the brand’s very own line of streetwear that lies somewhere between highly functional and so blindingly fresh, you may feel the need to avert your eyes. Their new Melbourne flagship store will open on April 20 on Russell Street in Melbourne. But until then, and for Sydney-siders, you’ll find everything online only.
Address: Online only while they open new locations
Above The Clouds carries all the heavyweights you want. Adidas, Carhartt, Lacoste, Vans, Puma and Nike, but the more underground edit. Those sneaks you’d only find on the backstreets of London or Paris, you’ll find here. They also stock The North Face, ASICS Tiger, Casablanca and Kappa among another 50 or so of what feels like a carefully curated selection of items you won’t find anywhere else in the city.
Address: Shop4/285a Crown Street, Surry Hills
Some 16 years ago, Supply was born on the mean streets of Sydney. The concept was to stock a unique set of brands that couldn’t be sourced anywhere else. Among those were Supreme, Silas, goodenough, Gimme V, Head Porter, P.A.M, and TONITE. Now, you’ll find Supply Store still going strong with a whole new fresh set of brands added to their portfolio. A rummage through it’s shelves will offer up all sorts; from A Bathing Ape to Stussy to Noon Goons to Fucking Awesome, to The Duct Tape Years. This is Sydney’s graffiti artist mecca.
Address: Burton St & Riley St, Darlinghurst
Republic Boutique is where you go when you want some seriously premium labels. You won’t find underground street wear from Bristol, but you will find what the rich and famous kids of Japan are wearing. Republic Boutique stocks Rick Owens Drkshdw, Y-3 and Yeezy among their brands.
Address: Shop 5/591 George Street, Sydney
Sneakerboy pretty much does what it says on the tin. You’ll find a huge selection of sneaker brands here, mostly the more premium ranges. This is where you come to get your Balenciaga, Gucci, Valentino or Prada kicks. Sure, you’ll find nothing here that’s ever even been close to a skateboard or spray can, but you will find what all the bloggers are wearing to fashion week.

Culture Kings is the big daddy of the sportier end of town. You’ll find everything from the high street heavyweights to some of the more underground brands here. They’re all about music, sportswear and exclusive streetwear. Think Kappa, Jordan, Celeste, Fila, Ellesse to more local brands like DEAD Studios, or international stuff like Justin Bieber, Calvin Klein or ASAP Rocky Apparel. You won’t come here for exclusive one-of-a-kinds, but it’s a great place to come for all the basics, everyday streetwear or music tour merch.

Pict Clothing is where you go for your clean-cut streetwear. You’ll find Patagonia, Stussy and Champion, or even Penfield, Dickies and Edwin here. The store is more apparel based with a lot of their brands coming from the USA. But with a few sexy European and Japanese brands thrown in for added spice.
